Hi I am Amy, my hands are behind all the creative cakes showcased here. I am a self taught home baker and decorator.
Everytime I get a question, how did you come into baking, I just look around and say, it just happened, was an accidental entry. But day by day, I get to understand that, children carry whole lot of inborn talents passed down from generation to generation. I came to know that my grandmother & great grandmothers were all fond of baking and cooking. They baked using methods which are unknown to this generation of mine. We just wow at how could they? Bcoz we are used to this modern tools and we have a feeling these are all modern day foods. Nah, not at all. And the reason why I love what I do is I owe it to my mom. Her cakes are so divine and smells heavenly. Never ever baked or learned how to bake from her, just watched her & devoured what she made. I am grateful for having her as my mom, thanking God for her.
So my baking journey started with my daughter’s 3rd birthday cake in 2013. But got into track only by 2016 and now a full time cake decorator. I had no idea of being a cake decorator even in my wildest – sweetest dreams

It was a week of First Holy Communion. So this week my grid is mainly of Communion cakes. This cake was made to celebrate Hanna's and Aiden's blessed day. I had full reign on the design until the night before I had no clue of what I am going to craft. The only design concept in mind was a plain cake with white and gold theme as requested. Since it's for communion, I did want to keep the simplicity yet add something to give a lift to the cake. Yes, I decided to do palette knife stroke which would depict the wings of angels which I only was aware of. And I am pretty much happy how it all fell in place. The night was beautiful with fabulous decorations by Peacock events.

Candle Cake 🩵💙🤍
My native church celebrated the Feast of Vallarpadathamma last Sunday. Since October is the month of the Rosary for Catholics, I’m happy to share this post before the month ends. Also my wish on the day was to light the candle instead of blowing it. And thanks to the priests, who agreed and was happy with the idea. 🙏🤍
Every year, I have the joy of crafting cakes for our Church Anniversary Mass and the Feast of Vallarpadathamma. I’m given full freedom to create any design that reflects Mother Mary and Baby Jesus, a privilege I truly cherish.
This year, the thought of a candle came to my mind. Candles hold a special place in our lives, they guide us in darkness, bring light and fragrance to our homes, yet we often remember them only when we need them most. To me, Mother Mary resembles that candle, a light we all need, who gently leads us to her Son, Jesus.

So here's the story that connects to the feast.
In May 1752 a miracle is believed to have taken place which made Vallarpadam a centre of pilgrimage. In Vallarpadam there was a young Nair lady named Meenakshi Amma, who was a member of a noble family called Palliyil Veedu. Together with her son she was sailing to Mattancherry. There arose a storm and the boat capsized. Meenakshi Amma and her son went deep down into the backwater. She promised to devote the rest of her life to Mary’s service if she and her child were saved. It was a promise she kept. On the third day, as per instructions in a dream, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Miguel Correa, asked the fishermen to cast net in the river, and Meenakshi Amma and her son were rescued. After her death, the church put up the picture of Meenakshiamma and her child alongside the painting of Mary. COPIED

My friend's daughter, has had some special requests about how her cake has to be, not only in design but also what she wants inside as filling. Guess what, she wants a chocolate cake with strawberries and creamy white buttercream inside. And yes, her wish has been fulfilled. Her dress & the colours on the cake just camouflaged. The joy, the surprise and the thank you note all made me do a happy dance when she left with the cake.

Let's do some maths, what's 10+6=? Yes, that was the highlight of the cake and much loved by the birthday girl, a lover of maths and music.
The cake was originally planned without any writing, but towards the end, the birthday girls mom hesitantly asked if I could add a few maths equations and music notes. At first, I was doubtful how that would blend with a vintage theme, so I said no. But deep in my heart, I wanted to fulfill her wish. Then came an idea why not make her birthday number into an equation to solve? And there it is, heart shaped cake for a sweet sixteen year old.
🥰Moments like these make me truly happy as a decorator when ideas come to life and bring joy to both the recipient and the creator. These are the moments I cherish most, and the reason I love what I do.

Crafted this drama themed cake for an ardent Theatre Drama Artist. The faces we see are mostly used to depict the emotions of sadness and happiness. When I got this order, I wanted to dig deep into the meaning of the drama faces and what it signifies. So just some learning along with cake crafting.
The comedy and tragedy masks, also known as the drama masks, are a pair of masks, one crying and one laughing, that have widely come to represent the performing arts. Originating in the theatre of ancient Greece, the masks were said to help audience members far from the stage to understand what emotions the characters were feeling.The crying mask is often ascribed the name Melpomene, after the Muse of tragedy, sometimes abbreviated as Melpo, while the laughing mask is named for Thalia, the Muse of comedy, with the Muses often depicted holding their respective masks.
